The gO! Running Group is a Roseville based recreational running group that aims to provide group running opportunities for runners of all abilities. Although our focus is primarily on 5K to marathons, we have members who have completed triathlons (including Ironman events) and ultras. We train on both roads and trails. We currently meet three times per week - Sunday mornings and Tuesday/Thursday evenings.

The Raven

Once upon a midnight dreary,
While I pondered, weak and weary,
I sat and wondered where they’d gone,
Those dedicated runners of yore.

A few were there, out in the cold,
Huddled ‘neath the overhang,
Bouncing and bracing and shivering a bit,
First there were two and then three and then four.

In all only eleven stalwart warriors did show,
Mustering gumption to get off of the couch;
To earn the respect of being a TEAM,
Despite the chill of relentless downpour.

So we ran in the dark carrying the proverbial load
Of the burden of many who’d promised to run
We resented their lack of commitment to gO!,
It’s not what we preach to build our rapport.

Apologies will be accepted from thine brethren lacking
Addressed to the gallant, yet humble legionnaires;
‘Cuz it’s the least they could to amend their foul ways
And re-establish the gO! esprit de corps.

Josh, Tim and Christine ran loops in the dark,
With Melissa and Richard and Mike,
Also Toni and Allen, Kim, Gary and Anne,
These were truly the reputed hard core.

And if ever you think that you have some excuse,
A good reason to just stay at home.
Think again, my good friend. ‘cuz its only allowed,
As is stated right here: Nevermore!

gO! Does Bay to Breakers

As you hopefully know, the gO! Group has officially put the Bay To Breakers on our calendar this year! We hope many of you will join us for this once in a lifetime running experience! The Bay To Breakers is one of the oldest and most celebrated races in our country. We will of course have to come up with a costume theme for our group and we will most likely run it together. Regardless, we have now been registered as a "team" for the event which gets us the group discount discussed below. Register soon!

New Options for the Running Club Challenge
Following last year’s successful Running Club Challenge, ING Bay to Breakers is excited to
announce the 2010 Running Club Challenge! In collaboration with local running clubs that have
made ING Bay to Breakers a world class race, a new entry option is now available for club
members. Become a part of history by running the 99th ING Bay to Breakers 12k on May 16!
Cost for running club members who choose to participate in the Running Club Challenge:
• $39 Early registration – January 16-March 31
• $43 Standard registration – April 1-May 14
• May 14 – Last day for Running Club registration.
ING Bay to Breakers will continue to implement start line corral placement. During registration, all athletes are required to indicate an estimated finish time in order to be placed in the
appropriate corral to ensure a fast and fair start.
The Running Club Challenge will have two divisions: speed and size. Speed is the total time of a
club’s top 5 runners and size is the overall number of people in each club. Note: Centipedes (a
group of 13 runners tethered together) are counted in the size category, but not the speed
category. When you register for the Running Club Challenge, you will be automatically tracked
by “club” based on your unique club code.
Here is your exclusive password for your club and is only valid online for members of your club
and cannot be combined with other offers or processed through paper forms:

gO! Runners

The shoe drive was a success! The gO! group brought in 85 pairs of shoes. Candice and I dropped them off at Sports Chalet in Roseville yesterday and today. One of the managers told us that this store alone has brought in 30,000 pairs of shoes. He has a double-wide behind the store that is filled with shoes!

Donation Tax Receipt Information:
Please call Soles4Souls @ 866-521-SHOE
Let them know you donated shoes at Sport Chalet and they'll send you a tax receipt within two weeks.

Thank you to everyone who donated!

Christine

P.S. The attached picture only reflects 49 pairs of shoes. =)
