The Raven
Once upon a midnight dreary,
While I pondered, weak and weary,
I sat and wondered where they’d gone,
Those dedicated runners of yore.
A few were there, out in the cold,
Huddled ‘neath the overhang,
Bouncing and bracing and shivering a bit,
First there were two and then three and then four.
In all only eleven stalwart warriors did show,
Mustering gumption to get off of the couch;
To earn the respect of being a TEAM,
Despite the chill of relentless downpour.
So we ran in the dark carrying the proverbial load
Of the burden of many who’d promised to run
We resented their lack of commitment to gO!,
It’s not what we preach to build our rapport.
Apologies will be accepted from thine brethren lacking
Addressed to the gallant, yet humble legionnaires;
‘Cuz it’s the least they could to amend their foul ways
And re-establish the gO! esprit de corps.
Josh, Tim and Christine ran loops in the dark,
With Melissa and Richard and Mike,
Also Toni and Allen, Kim, Gary and Anne,
These were truly the reputed hard core.
And if ever you think that you have some excuse,
A good reason to just stay at home.
Think again, my good friend. ‘cuz its only allowed,
As is stated right here: Nevermore!
